What to know about the pitta dosha in Ayurveda ?                                                    




Pitta disha:

pitta indicates agni (fire, heat energy), and the description in Ayurvedic texts includes heat, sharpness, sourness, and moisture. It is responsible for appetite, thirst, digestion, metabolism, body heat, normal eyesight, softness of the body, luster, mental calmness, and intelligence. This description of pitta resembles that of digestion, metabolism, oxidation, conjugation, reduction, phosphorylation, enzymes, and hormones.


-> Pitta protects the body in its normal state and destroys the body in its distorted state.

-> Pitta is the base substance of fire in the body.

-> Pitta is considered to be the primary heat generating substance of the body.


Pitta ke guna (character’s of Pitta Dosha) : 

    ▪️Sneha (oily)

    ▪️Tīksna (sharp)

    ▪️Usna (warm or hot)

    ▪️Laghu (lightness)

    ▪️Visra (offensive odour)

    ▪️Sara (fast moving)

    ▪️Drava (liquidity)


Pitta ke karma ( work of Pitta dosha ) : 

🔹Provide digestion metabolism

🔹Balancing of the : 

   ▪️Body temperature

   ▪️Vision

   ▪️Appetite

   ▪️Thirst 

   ▪️Taste

   ▪️Lustre 

   ▪️Memory power

   ▪️Intelligence

   ▪️Vigour 

   ▪️Softness of the body tissues 


Abnormal functions of pitt

🔹It causes:

   ▪️Burning sensation 

   ▪️Redness

   ▪️Inflammation 

   ▪️Perspiration 

   ▪️Moistening 

   ▪️Excess secretions 

   ▪️Formation of gangrene

   ▪️Fainting 

   ▪️Always feeling pungent and sour tastes

   ▪️Expression of all colours except pale white and light red in any part of the body


Pitta ke sthana ( Location of Pitta dosha) :

🔹Samanya sthana :

     ▪️Nābhi (the portion of the bowel behind the navel)

    ▪️Āmāsaya (the stomach and the small intestine)

    ▪️Sveda (sweat)

    ▪️Lasīkā (watery discharges from the surface of the soft tissues and membranes including lymph)

    ▪️Rudhira (blood)

    ▪️Rasa (the tissue that is absorbed after digestion or rasa dhātu)

   ▪️Drk (the eyes)

   ▪️Sparsana (the skin)


🔹Vishesh sthana : 

    ▪️Nābhi (portion behind the umbilicus)


Pitta ke bheda ( Types of Pitta Dosha ) :

Pitta dosa is of five types :

   1️⃣ Pācaka pitta

   2️⃣ Rañjaka pitta

   3️⃣ Sādhaka pitta

   4️⃣ Ālocaka pitta

   5️⃣ Bhrājaka pitta


1).PACHAKA PITTA :

 

➡️ Sthana - situated :

▪️Between Pakvāsaya and Āmāsaya

➡️ Karma -


   ▪️Digests the food

                     ↓

   ▪️Separates the food into absorbable part and excretory part.

                     ↓  

   ▪️Absorbable part is assimilated and excretory part is excreted out.


🔹Nourishes or sparks the other four forms of pitta by imparting strength to them.



2).RAÑJAKA PITTA :


➡️ Sthana - situated in the :

                     ▪️Āmāsaya

➡️ Karma

   ▪️Imparting pigment to Rasadhātu


3).SĀDHAKA PITTA :


➡️ Sthana - situated in the:

                     ▪️Heart

➡️ Karma

🔹To enable a person, to accomplish his desired or cherished objects through or by virtue of his :

 ▪️ Intelligence 

 ▪️ Memory power

 ▪️Self esteem



4). ALOCHAKA PITTA :


➡️ Sthana -  

   ▪️Present in the eye

➡️ Karma

   ▪️Brings about the reflect of an object and presents an image



5).BHRAJAKA PITTA :


➡️ Sthana -

    ▪️Located in the skin 

➡️ Karma -

    ▪️It imparts lustre to the skin and makes it radiate.


Pitta vriddhi ke lakshana (Symptoms of Elevated Pitta Dosha) :

🔹It causes :

   ▪️Yellowish colouration of urine, faeces, eyes and skin.

   ▪️Excess appetite

   ▪️Excess thirst 

   ▪️Burning sensation 

   ▪️Less sleep


Pitta Kshaya ke lakshana (Symptoms of vata depletion) :

 ▪️Digestive fire becomes dull

 ▪️Body temperature may be lowered

 ▪️Person afflicted loses his lustre or glow


Pitta dosha chikitsa

▪️Virecana (used of laxatives and purgatives)

▪️Intake of Ghrta
